RACE CRITERIA
Run on turf, i.e. no all-weather racing.
No handicaps (note that a nursery race is a handicap and also is excluded).
No chases or National Hunt flat races.
Racing only within Great Britain, i.e. England, Scotland and Wales.
No amateur or apprentice races.
No lady jockey races and no gentleman races, i.e. professional male races only.
No maiden races.
Horse Selection
1. Look at the top three horses in the ratings.
2. Eliminate any of these three whose prices are not in the lowest four forecast prices (SP).
3. Eliminate any of the remainder who have not any runs by them.
4. Look for any negatives with the horses by looking along the row on the ratings printout. A horse can have one negative but when it starts to collect more than one start to consider dropping the horse totally.
5. The columns to take the greater interest in are the ones entitled: Conn, Frm, Lst, Cls, WinF, Spd and CPos.
6. If there is just one horse remaining then back it, if there are two or more then consider Dutching them.
7. If any of the selections are priced at 3/1 or greater then back them each-way.
What makes this a method and not a system is that sometimes Rule 1 can be broken if there is a good looking horse just outside the top three rated horses. For Rule 3 I, personally, tend to disregard any races where any of the top three have had no runs or that there are too many horses without runs in the race.
Note: With respect to Rule 4; a detailed listing of the more important ratings columns will be listed here, but for the time being assume that the horse can't have too many negative ratings at all.
It is expected that these rules will be modified in the near future, so please do mail any comments or place them on the Chat room where they will be either answered or addressed.
